A Blog about Business Blogs

A few helpful tips on making a great corporate blog

The existence of about 70 million blogs has been recorded post the year 2008; and approximately 120,000 blogs are launched each day. That kind of puts the scope of your competition into perspective doesn’t it? What’s slightly worse is that about 5000 ‘splogs’ or spam blogs are created every day too! So how are you going to get your blog noticed through all that mess?

According to recent statistics, about 40% of internet users read blogs or visit blog websites annually. If nothing else, this fact should goad you to make your blog better in terms of content, design and accessibility.

Your blog needs to do the good deed of inform people about your products, your business, your company culture, and your life philosophy. You can post articles or press releases about important events and videos of meetings to provide more insight a visitor about the going-ons in your company. The basic idea is to make the visitor feel welcomed.

Do not underestimate the reach of your web-blog. A powerful communication tool and by posting company news, views and event information on your business blog it serves as a brilliant marketing and promotional tool too. If you’re a startup or a small business enterprise, having and maintaining a blog is doubly important. Having a blog would help small businesses create a large customer base and in turn provide credibility to your company.

It would be a good idea to use a professional tone in your blogging language. Slang, impoliteness, swearwords and over-familiarity in language style are strict ‘no-no’s. Since you’re using your blog as an extension to your actual company, you need to prove that you mean business! Editing a finished post you would also be a good idea. This will ensure that you avoid any preventable slips in grammar or spellings by re-reading your post before you hit publish.

It is best if you do not try to cram your blog with too much information. Clarity of expression is what you should aim for and not over-load of information. It’d make sense to add sub-headings, or highlighting keywords to make your information readable. Insert paragraph breaks between points to give the whole article a neat and orderly layout. This also allows your visitor to scan through your article and retain key information without reading in detail.

Try to avoid voicing your opinions about politics or certain moral or ethical issues. In this day and age your customers do not necessarily share the same political or moral views as you or your company does. It is better to keep mum about controversial issues because some of c\your customers might find your comments offensive and to be in bad taste, which could in turn lead them to desert you.

It’s a good idea to respond to every email enquiry or comment you get to your blog posts. Your blog visitors and readers are your company’s potential clients and the way you respond to their comments and queries will give them an idea of your customer service standards. Basic point is to remain polite and courteous to all your readers and to generate a healthy and concrete discussion board.

Lastly, it would be advisable for you to stick to writing your blog once you start it. You don’t want a client who is a regular reader of your company blog to be turned away because of the lack of recent blog updates. This could end up giving your client a bad impression about your business work ethics and methods as a result of your inconsistent blogging. Ofcourse, it is possible that you might be too busy to write monthly or weekly (as the case may be) but you could always hire a writer to keep your blog going.

Happy Blogging!

What are you tweeting?

Founded in 2006, the little blue bird has grown to be symbolic of the Twitter world. Twitter has grown to be one of the Social Media world’s largest and popular members. A free social networking website, twitter allows users to write, chat, share and discuss their thoughts, ideas and more all through popularly used SMS jargon. So incase you’ve been worrying about being ‘grammatically correct’ on Twitter you can breathe freely. In short, Twitter propagates the idea of ‘less is more!’

An allowance of about 140 characters a post, a ‘tweet’ is can be a bit of stock market news, celebrity gossip or just random lines that a user can post onto his (or her) twitter profile. Twitter allows you to follow the tweets of your favorite celebrity or organization even if you aren’t directly related to that person or company. Ranked high in the Social Media world, Twitter is now also being offered in French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish other than English.

Business too can now use Twitter to their advantage. Be it large or small sized, organizations are now using Twitter to spread news, views and reviews about services and products launched by them. This is an intelligent move by organizations using Twitter, since it allows them to obtain real-time feedback on their tweet.

The accessibility of Twitter through mediums like a cell phone, have also made the website popular. You can now access tweets of a favorite author by just subscribing to SMS alerts (All provided for free from twitter! Of course you might want to check if your cell phone service provider charges you separately for receiving tweets on your cell phone). This way you remain updated on the twitter world even while on the move!

If you have a website, you can have a little link on it that directs your website visitor to your Twitter account. This way your ‘potential’ customer (if he or she is a Twitter user too) can see what you tweet and who you follow.

So what are you waiting for? Get tweeting!

Designing your own website

You’ve seen many websites on the internet and are now willing to launch your own. You might want to exhibit your company on the internet in order to broaden the reach of your services to your target audience, or might want to remodel an existing old website. Either way, the Internet world has expanded and the stakes are higher.

In the event that you’re designing your website for the very first time, here are a couple of points that we think are important for you to ponder on.

Cost
Naturally, the first thing that most people wanting to launch a website on the internet would think about is the cost of designing. We know it can be difficult to choose between an array of design options and weigh those options against your budget. Ultimately it is up to you to decide whether you can fit in quality and success of your website in your website design investment budget.

‘Property’ on the Internet
Your website is your ‘Property’ on the internet. Your website is property that is equivalent to a bit of land or a building that you might own. Like all kinds of property that is purchased, it is considered as an investment by most. Your website is also an investment of sorts. The purchase of web space doesn’t just end at that. Apart from the launch of your website, your website needs to attract new customers and in turn increase your sales. Once you notice an upturn trend on your company sales and visitor traffic, you can be assured that your investment hasn’t gone waste.

Choosing a Website Designer
There are hundreds, maybe thousands of website designers, freelancers and organizations all within your country and overseas that are capable of designing websites. You need to carefully look around on the internet, and look through websites of designers that display the work that they have done. Your website in all ideal circumstances must be designed in a way that it becomes a reflection of you and your company on the internet. So you might want to be sure that the designer you choose represents you in a way that makes you proud. Designing your website with the right structuring, SEO and marketing will help greatly in getting your company noticed and up all your visitor and customer traffic.

Building your Website
Once you’ve narrowed down to your designer of choice you need to make sure that he/she understands the nature of your business. By doing so you’d ensure that your website is designed in a way that reflects the nature and business of your company in the SEO, marketing and navigational fronts. Ultimately your aim must be to convert your website visitors to buyers, else your investment won’t amount to much.

Why outsourcing is in demand worldwide

Most entrepreneurs step into the business world with a goal and then do what they must to achieve it. They possess the desire to become successful and the fervor to make their own future with the freedom and creativity that is lacked by the average 10-6 working world. The truth though is that less than 70 percent of the new businesses may not last for more than four years and those who make it struggle for up to 70+ hours without being able to take a break. Successful entrepreneurs use outsourcing to grow their business and thrive. Here are few top reasons to outsource:

  • It is best to take on the tasks for which you are qualified and adept at and enjoy.
  • The prime goal is to earn money. It is not worth wasting time and effort on something that is difficult to complete. It is far better to utilize the services of an effective support team that will be a relief and permit the focus on income producing activities.
  • Save time and money. Consider contractors a profit center rather than an expense. Money is lost when the job is done by an inexperienced person, while a skilled worker will charge relatively less. Also, it saves time and it can be spent on activities that fetch more income.
  • Reduce expenses and increase profits. If the capital can be used to make the business grow, then it is better to invest it accordingly rather than blocking it in payroll, benefits, recruiting and training costs, equipment and office space. Outsourced virtual professionals perform from their home offices and charge according to the active productive time (i.e. Virtual Personal Assistants).
  • Freedom to generate and seek opportunities. Business management and administration work often retards ones creativity. Outsourcing alleviates you from this and provides the freedom and time to be original and concentrate on enhancing the business.
  • Maintain a balance between work and personal life. This will ensure that you will eventually be able to spend time with family or to follow personal interests.
  • Access to new skills and trained professionals. A virtual support team will provide an assortment of proficiency and the many professional will offer reference to other service providers.
  • Peace of mind. Frequent communication and feedback ensures the peace of mind as one knows of the day-to-day details, customer and business lead follow-up, maintenance and marketing of the business will taken care of by the virtual support team.

Outsourcing gratifies the reason for starting a self owned business. The accomplishment and liberty characteristic to an entrepreneur depends on the capacity to focus on what you love and are best at and remove or outsource the rest.
